Obituary

Woodrow "Woody" Sells Jr.

December 6, 1946 – June 4, 2025

Woodrow "Woody" Sells Jr., 78, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on June 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after his courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Born on December 6, 1946, Woody was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, musician, friend and man of faith. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1964 to 1968 and was extremely proud to have served his country. That sense of honor, discipline, and commitment stayed with him throughout his life.

Woody was the owner and operator of "S & P Welding", later renamed "Woody Sells Welding", a business he built and managed with integrity for over 30 years. Known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship, he served his community with the same pride he gave to his country.

Outside of work, Woody's heart belonged to music. He loved many genres, but his favorites were the classic sounds of the 1950s and 1960s. A talented musician, he played acoustic guitar, steel guitar and electric guitar, performing in several bands over the years. Most notably, he formed his own band, "The Pink Cadillacs", which became well known and loved throughout the area. Woody and his wife, Patsy enjoyed singing karaoke at the Fraternal order of Eagles, at Larry B's karaoke sessions, the Amvets and Elks. His passion for music and singing brought joy to many and left a lasting impression on every stage he graced.

Woody is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Widdowson; his children: Woodrow Sells III (Rhonda), Tanya Conway (Steve), and stepson Norman Way (Caroline). He was a cherished grandfather to Jeffrey Dobbs (Abby), Austin Conway (Erin), Joshua Dunsmore (Megan), Brittany Snelling (Doug), and Zachary Burt; and a proud great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many step-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, Woody is survived by his brother, Mack Sells, and sisters Loretta Cunningham, Dorothy Tigue (Jim), Dale Sells Matthews, and Kay Sells Williams. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, David Taylor (Toni), and special friends, Larry B. Fradd (Carol), who held a meaningful place in his heart, as well as Jay Wright who was his motorcycle buddy and always available to lend a helping hand when Woody needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Sells Sr. and Bertha A. Lewis Sells; and by his siblings: Esther Burris, Faye Williams, Frankie Martin, Gayle Sells, Clay Sells, and Woodrow Harley Sells.

Woody will be remembered for his steady presence, deep love for his family, musical soul, and dedication to his work and country. Whether in his welding shop, on stage with a guitar, or singing karaoke with wife, Patsy and a large group of their friends. Woody lived a life full of heart and purpose. His legacy will continue through the many lives he touched and the memories he created.
