Wilma Phelps Baker, 88, of Palm Coast, FL, wife of Martin F. Baker, died Saturday, August 1, 2015. Born in Ash, NC, she was a daughter of the late Rufus C. and Annie Hewett Phelps. Wilma graduated from Mars Hill College and received her Bachelor's Degree from Woman's College of UNC in 1947. She was a long-time member of Marietta First Baptist Church in SC and later Palm Coast First Baptist. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Ticoma Chapter 140. Wilma enjoyed fishing, traveling, entertaining, and homemaking. Wilma began her career as a Vocational Home Economics Instructor and later was the co-owner of Baker's Drug Store in Marietta. Surviving, in addition to her loving husband of 66 years, are three sisters, Lois Williams of Bakersville, NC, Leah Jenkins of Ash, NC, and Lina Ruth Lassister of Colerain, NC; a sister-in-law, Pat Baker of Palm Coast, FL; and 10 loving nieces and nephews, and their families.
