IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William John
Yilk
February 8, 1937 – May 3, 2025
William John Yilk, 88, of Deltona, Florida passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025. He was born in Albion, Nebraska on February 8, 1937.
After high school, William joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He worked on airplanes, while they were in flight. They would fly the planes, and cut off the engines and other systems to diagnose the issues the aircraft may have been having, a level of bravery that did not go unnoticed. After leaving the military he worked with Burlington Northern as a traveling mechanic for several years. When he and his family moved to Florida, Bill was a Supervisor in construction until the time that he retired.
William will be deeply missed by his family, most of all, his wife of 63 years, Twyla. He is remembered as a great man, and his legacy of hard work and love will be carried on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
William is survived by his loving wife, Twyla Yilk; his children, Laura Happe, Lonny (Lina) Yilk, and Lee (Dee) Yilk; his four grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; his brother, Dan (Donna) Yilk; and his sisters, Joan (Fred) Goering, Mary Jo (Fred) Little, and Bonnie Burghardt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Lucille Yilk; his daughter, Lynda M. Yilk; his sister, Maxine Socha; his brother, Larry Yilk; and his son-in-law, Tim Happe.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Lohman Funeral Home – Deltona on Friday, May 9, 2025 from 10:00 – 11:00 am, with military honors and funeral services beginning at 11:00 am.
