Bill passed away on Sunday, May 28 at the Flagler Hospital in Palm Coast, Florida. He was surrounded by his wife Donna Wheat, 3 daughters Denise Evans, Roxanne Perkins, and Sharon Wheat, his sister Tommie Brubaker and grandson, Sean Perkins.
Bill was born in Gadsden, Alabama the first born of Burke and Johnnie Wheat. Bill was educated in various schools in Alabama. Most of his young years were spent in Homestead, Florida. It was also here that he met and married Ruby Lillian Conner. Bill and Ruby had 4 children 3 daughters and a son. Sadly, Ruby died in 1992 of cancer. Bill relocated to Homestead after Hurricane Andrew. Here he bought and rebuilt a hurricane damaged home. It was also here that Bill met and married Donna Morris his second wife of 24 years in 1994. Bills life demonstrated his love of the Lord, his family and anyone who ever needed a helping hand.
Bill spent most of his life involved in the automotive industry. From ownership of a VW dealership in Bogalusa, LA to Alaska where his first place of employment was Alaska Sales and Service in Anchorage, Alaska. He and his brother Frankie purchased Consolidated Body Works, which they operated for many years in Anchorage.
Bill made the most of his time in Alaska where he learned to fly and bought an airplane. He also got involved in commercial fishing for Salmon in Bristol Bay, Alaska.
Bill was preceded in death by his Father, Burke Wheat, his Mother Johnnie (Taylor) Wheat, two sisters, Sandra Spinella and Marianne Wood and one brother Frankie Wheat. Bill was also preceded in death by a step-daughter Elizabeth Morris.
He is survived by his wife Donna, 4 children; Denise, David, Roxanne and Sharon, grandson Nicholas and his sister Tommie of Anchorage. He is also survived by step son Jeffery Morris and 2 step Grandchildren Ryan and Matthew Mandelbloom.
