William D. Vernon 82 of Port Orange FL died at his home on Monday April 25 2005. Born in Douglaston NY Mr. Vernon moved to Florida 27 years ago after his retirement as an assessor for the Town of Southampton a position which he held for more than 25 years. He was also a member of the Sagharbor Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Southampton Republican Club. He is survived by his wife Gertrude; a daughter Carol J. Ward & son-in-law George of Daytona Beach FL; 2 grandchildren George Ward and Cindy Capalbo and 2 great-grandchildren Haley and Christopher Capalbo.
