Obituary

ORMOND BEACH - William (Bill) Robison, 87, passed away peacefully at home on October 10, 2024. Bill was born on March 31, 1937 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. He attended Seabreeze H.S., Georgia Tech, University of Florida, and San Diego State University where he obtained degrees in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering. His career was with General Dynamics, IBM, and Honeywell on space vehicle guidance system development in San Diego, the Saturn/Apollo Space Program at Cape Kennedy and on the Space Shuttle Program at Clearwater. He also worked many years in Hawaii on military Command & Control programs and tactics development for the U.S. Navy.

Bill enjoyed any activity near the water; boating, surfing, kayaking (he was a Daytona Beach lifeguard in 1958). If he was near the water, he was happy. Camping was another big part of his life. From early childhood tent camping in his beachside neighborhood near the Halifax River; hanging hammock tents to avoid the gators on the St. Johns River; pop-up camper with family and friends in Florida and California to later in life traveling to North Carolina with wife Dottie and their travel trailer. At age 70, he pursued a lifelong interest in riding a motorcycle and did so for the next 7 years. In later years he enjoyed spending time at Silver Glen Springs on their houseboat, playing pickleball and riding his e-bike. His family also has fond memories of the family ski trips to Brighton, Utah.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Hayes Robison; they met in 10th grade at Seabreeze H.S. and were married in 1958. Bill is also survived by his daughter Susan Frances, husband Rodney; granddaughter Rachel Frances and grandson Michael Krawczyk. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, De and Frances Robison; his sister Jean Werner; his cousin Wilt Wagner; his two sons James Robison and Robert Robison; and grandson Taylor Frances. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Ave., Daytona Beach, Florida.
