William H. Petersen, Sr., 80, Major, US Army Retired, of Ormond Beach / Port Orange, Florida died on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center, Port Orange, Florida. Margaret Mary Biller, 83, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Leach of Ormond Beach, his son Bill Petersen, Jr. of Port Orange, his grandchildren, Michelle Corrine Leach, Haley Marie Petersen, Hannah Michelle Petersen, along with her brother, Eldon Petersen, and his sister, Nancy Davis, both of California. Bill was born on November 23, 1937 in Lexington, Kentucky to Eldon and Joan (Sapp) Petersen. He served in the US Army for 21 years. His tours included Germany, France, and two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous medals and accommodations, including the Bronze Star, for service in Vietnam and the Excellence-in-Competition badge for shooting the top 10% of the country in hi-power rifle competition at Camp Perry, Ohio. Bill was a member of the Military Officers Association of America and the Moose of Ormond Beach. Services will be held privately.
