William Norris Loucks passed away peacefully at his home in Ormond Beach on September 13 2010 of natural causes. Funeral services will be held on Friday September 17 2010 at 5:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to services at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 1125 6th Street Daytona Beach FL. He was born on August 9 1923 to Daniel K. Loucks and Francis Norris Loucks in Watertown South Dakota. Bill served as a flight instructor in the Navy during World War II. During this time he met his future wife Elaine Jenkins. They were married for 63 years and raised a family of 6 children. Bill had a keen intellect. He was hired as a computer programmer in 1957 early in the technology revolution. This led to a computer science career which spanned over 35 years. Musically gifted Bill was most happy when playing jazz piano. He played professionally for many years. Bill was preceded in death by his wife and a sister Marguerite Loucks Dye. He is survived by three sons and three daughters; Carol Nak Crista Abbott William D. Loucks Robert Carl Loucks John R. Loucks and Summer Ray. He has 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grand-children. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the excellent care given by those who made it possible for both Mom and Dad to remain in their home during their last years of life. Bill & Elaine's son Bob daughter Carol and grand-daughter Stephanie devoted themselves to making this possible. In addition their caregivers Pam Kitchens Sue Walker Sandra Galaiza Edna Koelker and Enid McCoy worked tirelessly to keep them safe and comfortable and became like family to our parents.
