William Reynolds "Bill" Jones MD 77 of Ormond Beach passed away on July 17 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in English Kentucky on May 18 1934 to William and Genevieve (Fletcher) Jones. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 23rd at 11:00 am at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church 105 Amsden Road Ormond Beach FL 32176 with Rev. Dr. Michael Foley officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday July 22nd at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach between the hours of 5-7 pm. In 1947 his family moved to St. Albans W. Virginia where he grew up and graduated from St. Albans High School. After graduation he completed his pre-medical education at Vanderbilt University then enrolled in the two year program at West Virginia University School of Medicine and received his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959. He completed his internship fellowship and residency in urology at Duke University. Dr. Jones began his practice of urology in Nashville TN for 3 years before joining David W. Goddard MD at Daytona Beach Urological Clinic; working with John Westcott MD he was later joined by B. Thomas Brown MD and Anthony Cantwell MD. This group through a series of mergers became what is now Atlantic Urological Associates. Dr. Jones a diplomat of the American Board of Urology served the medical community over the years as President of the Volusia County Medical Society President of the Florida Urological Society and served for several years on the Board of Directors of the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and served as the Chairman of Applicants for Central Florida for many years. After his retirement from the active practice of medicine in 1999 Dr. Jones was honored by the Florida Medical Association with its Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding service to the Association to the medical profession and to the public. He served on the Planning Board for the City of Ormond Beach and was honored by the city for ten years of service. After Bill retired he had time to pursue his love of music singing in the choir at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church and in the Surfside Chorus Harmony Group. He was a member of the Oceanside County Club Halifax River Yacht Club the Daytona Beach Ski Club and the Quarterback Club. Bill also enjoyed his love of travel golf tennis and snow skiing. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Mary Jones Ormond Beach his sons Larry (Paula) Jones Tallahassee FL and Stephen Jones N. Attleboro MA his daughter Janet Jones Orlando FL sister Sue (Joseph) Carpenito Vero Beach FL and grandchildren Michael and Kelly Jones.
