William B. Howard, Jr., of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 2 ^nd , 2021.  He was 86.  Bill, as he was affectionately called, was born October 11, 1934 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, the son of William Bernard Howard, Sr. and Bertha (Armstrong) Howard.

Bill joined the N.Y.C. Police department in 1959 and retired as a Lieutenant in 1982.  Too young to stay retired, he joined the Department of Health and Hospitals in N.Y. and served as Deputy Inspector General for 10 years, finally retiring in 1992.  He also served military time in the U.S. Army.

Bill deeply loved his family and was always proud of their accomplishments.  He was a real "people person" and loved interactions with others.    His other love ….Music, all varieties but especially Jazz.   He so loved his music that if anyone mentioned music of any kind, he would create personalized tapes for them.  Our house was always filled with music.  He and his friend Walter would spend hours discussing the great jazz legends, debating who was the best.

Bill is survived by his wife Alice; daughters Linda, Cynthia and Patricia; granddaughter Zuri and brother Larry, nephew Michael and niece Erica.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jacqueline and brother Harry.

Bill is already deeply missed by the many friends he has had over the years and with whom he has always maintained contact.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, June 10 ^th at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Pkwy SW, Palm Coast, Florida, 32137 Rev. Dr. Kevin James will officiate.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 am and continue until the time of the service. Entombment will follow the service at Daytona Memorial Park.  Arrangements are under the direction and care of Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast (386 449-1100).
