Bill Gokey passed away on Monday February 26th, 2018, to be with his loving parents Robert and Ruth Gokey.

He was born July 4, 1947 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He and his wife, Karen Thomas Gokey, lived in Florida for all 40 years of their marriage. He is survived by his loving family; wife Karen, daughter Megan Marie, son Steven Charles and his wife Nikki. Other family includes Bill's brother Bob and wife Pat, sister Judy , cousin Teresa, and several nieces and nephews as well as numerous members of the Thomas family.

Just after turning 18, Bill entered the Navy, serving four years on the USS Bonhomme Richard  aircraft carrier. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in special education, and a master's degree in administration and supervision. He taught in Volusia County Schools for over 25 years and was known as "Mr. G". Bill enjoyed remodeling homes, building custom projects, boating, music, and tennis. He was also an avid dog lover and rescued several boxers from the Boxer Rescue Foundation.

Visitation will begin at 3PM, followed by a memorial service with military honors at 4PM on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 West Granada Boulevard, in Ormond Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the woundedwarriorproject.org or boxerarc.org
