William Ralph Funk Jr. of Palm Coast passed away with his family by his side at the age of 80 on September 19, 2026.

Bill was born on February 19, 1946, in Troy, New York. He was the son of the late Jean Clothier Funk and William Ralph Funk Sr. Bill was married twice. His first wife was Sue Coble Funk, and his second wife was Margie Jackson McEntyre who both proceeded him in death.

Bill was a retired employee of AT&T. He worked his whole career with AT&T after leaving the Air Force and starting a family in Greensboro, North Carolina. With Sue, he had two children, William Kevin Funk, and Kenneth Alan Funk. Bill was very knowledgeable of the switches he worked on for AT&T and quickly became the one everyone went to figure out what was wrong. Through AT&T, Bill was transferred to Bolingbrook, Il. where he worked for 2 years. He was later transferred back south to Marietta, Ga., working 8 years at the Cumberland location, and ended his career with AT&T in Covington, Ga. Bill enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading books, watching the Atlanta Braves every night, but most of all he enjoyed building his own computer at home and playing ALL the games. Later in life, he became consumed with putting together puzzles. Through his whole life, work and play, anything that would challenge his mind, he loved.

After many happy years of marriage to Sue, she passed away from cancer. Bill took care of her to the end. He later married his second wife Margie. She brought him new happiness, and they moved to Florida, where they spent the rest of their lives.

Bill’s survivors include three of his sisters, Katherine Cary, Wilma Ibbott, and Paula Mastropietro. He is also survived by his two sons, W. Kevin Funk, Kenneth A. Funk, and his two granddaughters Sara Funk and Summer Funk. Bill was also proceeded in death by his sisters Ruth Anne LaValle, Thelma Reyla, and his grandson Bryce Funk.

There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation or the American Cancer Society in Bill’s name.
