William "Tom" Eckenrode III, 48 of Deltona, FL died September 3, 2014 at Florida Hospital Orlando. He was born February 4, 1966 in Silver Spring, Maryland to William and Patricia Eckenrode, Jr. Tom relocated to Volusia County along with his parents in the early 80's and attended and graduated in 1984 from Seabreeze High School, Daytona Beach. He went on to obtain his Bachelors of Science in Information Technology degree from Daytona State College. Tom entered the workforce with AT&T and rose to the position of Senior Technical Architect-Information Technology.
He enjoyed the outdoors, running in marathons, fishing, cooking and grilling, and applying technical gadgets to everyday life. Tom was actively involved throughout his life with raising money for cancer through Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. He was a Jacksonville Jaguar fan, and a man with a great sense of humor. Tom always had a way of making people laugh and smile.
Tom will be greatly missed by his loving wife of sixteen years, Lori A. Eckenrode, Deltona, Florida, his three sons, Shawn (Justa Martin) Ayers, Dawsonville, GA, Christopher (Katelynn Dentremont) Ayers, also of Dawsonville, and William Thomas (Kaci Laureyns) Eckenrode IV of Ormond Beach, FL, by his daughter, Chelsea Eckenrode, Travis Air Force Base, CA, also by his parents, William and Patricia Eckenrode, Boonsboro, MD, three brothers, Christopher "Chris" (Julie) Eckenrode, Boonsboro, Joseph (Theresa) Eckenrode, and Patrick Eckenrode, both of Ormond Beach, by a sister, Theresa "Teri" (Jim) Moyer, Fredrick, MD and four grandchildren, Makayla, Annily, William "Liam", and Kaeleigh.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 3:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
