Obituary

William "Bill" Francis Town, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2014. Born in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada to the late Helen F. Francis Town and Jack R. Town on October 29, 1940, Bill was an athlete and a gentleman. He was captain of the football team at Waterloo University in London, Ontario, Canada. He then graduated with a Master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania where he met the love of his life, Judith.

Throughout his career, Bill served as the director of several non-profit agencies serving children and youth in Burlington, NJ, Cedartown, GA, Jackson, MS, and Daytona Beach, FL. He was a member of the Masons and Toastmasters in Burlington County, NJ. He was most proud of his time creating and cultivating Town Park in New Jersey. In addition, he was a talented gardener, particularly roses. Throughout his life, he gave of himself and led by example. He was an entrepreneur and passionate about education, he never stopped learning from life and sharing his experience with others. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting the beach. He valued service to others and was a dedicated volunteer at the Port Orange Library.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judith, son Michael Town, two daughters Kathleen Town Kostage (Jude) and Heather Town, and three grandchildren Kayla, Collin, and Kevin; his brother Jim Town (Ellen) of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, his brother-in-laws Timothy McInerney (Francine), Francis McInerney (Phyllis), Daniel McInerney, Christopher McInerney (Laurie) and many special friends and relatives.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 11:00am, with Visitation the evening prior, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to The Arbor Foundation at http://shop.arborday.org/ or by calling 1-888-448-7337. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
