William (Bill) Albert Shaw passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on the 13th of May 2014. Born on the 30th of September, 1923 in Hilliard, Florida he was the son of the late William Augustus and Mamie Higginbotham Shaw. Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Mamie Roberts.

Bill spent a short time in the Army Air Corp during WWII stationed in Kansas where he met his wife. They returned to Florida where he began his postal career as a substitute mail carrier in Citra, Florida and worked his way to the regional office in Memphis, Tennessee. He retired from the Postal Service after 43 years. As an active bowler for many years he, along with his wife, organized and ran many of the senior leagues. He was a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and AL Chymia Shrine also the Lions Club from which he received several awards.

Bill is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Louise Shaw; along with two children; daughter Susan Buttram and husband Ray of DeLand, Florida and son Steve Shaw and wife Pat, of Orlando, Florida; three grandchildren Kevin Shaw, Katie Wallace, and Jason Roten; four great grandchildren; and his sister, Alva Rhodes, of Marianna, Florida.

Bill was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
