William B. Mead "Bill" 83 of Port Orange formerly of Port Monmouth NJ passed from this life on August 5 2013.
He was born in Newark NJ on the 12th of August 1929 the Son of William and Alice Mead. Soon after Bill's family along with sisters Marjorie and Mildred moved to Port Monmouth NJ where he spent most of his life.
Bill proudly answered the call to serve his country and enlisted in the Army during the Korean War making the rank of Seargent. Upon his return he married the love of his life Nancy and had four children. Bill raised his family in the same community he was raised Port Monmouth NJ. During his working years Bill was a heavy Equipment Operator for Fenwick Construction and also owned his own trucking company Mead Trucking. Bill and his wife Nancy would travel to Florida in the winter months beginning in 1987 and finally became full time residents of Port Orange in 2003. Bill will be remembered by friends and family as a fan of NASCAR especially of the Earnhardt's a lover of radio jingles and antiquing.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Nancy their devoted children William (Mary) Bob (Laurie) John and Susan Lenge (John) and his loving sister Marjorie Brown (Bill). Bill has also left behind his dear grand-children; Cindy Maryanna Mandy Melissa Nicole John Paul Danica and William and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Alice his sister Mildred and his daughter-in-law Filipinas.
