On March 8, 2016, surrounded by family, William H. Egan, 82, of South Daytona, Florida journeyed peacefully to his eternal home. He was greeted by Gerry, his loving wife of 62 years who anxiously awaited his arrival in Heaven. Bill was born on June 16, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, the only child of Velma Blanche and Robert Lawrence Egan. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and retired from civil service after a 36 year career with the United States Postal Service. Bill enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, RV'ing, NFL football and American History.
He and Gerry moved to Florida in 1969 where they raised their 3 children: Robert Egan (Beverly), Steven Egan (Gail), and Sandra Egan-Jarvis. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, Amanda Woods, Michelle Egan, Alex Egan, Andy Egan, Erika Hague and Monika Greenslade along with 9 great-grandchildren; Olivia, Eliza, Mason, Aedan, Alyssa, MaKenna, Drake, David, and Loretta; he will be missed by all.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home of Daytona. Their care and compassion have been a true blessing.
A funeral service will be held for Bill at 1: 00 p.m. on Monday, March 14th at the Lohman Funeral Home in Daytona Beach. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park
