Obituary

Wilbur Calvin Quick 96 years of age and a resident of Emerald Village in North Olmsted Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday September 18 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a one month illness. He was born on February 9 1914 in Monett Missouri. Wilbur was born and raised in Mt. Vernon Missouri. He accepted the call to make Christ his Lord and Savior at age 9 at a church revival meeting. He met his wife of 70 years Nona in his home town and they took their first date at a church youth gathering which was the beginning of a life commitment to serving Christ. They later moved to Warren Michigan where they raised their four sons. Upon retirement Wilbur and Nona relocated to Daytona Beach Florida where they had thirty-three years to enjoy the retired life Wilbur served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. during World War II. He was employed for the Chrysler Corporation for over thirty years. Wilbur was an active member of First Baptist Chuch of Daytona Beach Florida where he was involved in the seniors Sunday school class until his recent move to North Olmsted. He was a former active member of Van Dyke Baptist Church in Michigan working with the youth as a Sunday school teacher and serving as a deacon. Wilbur was currently attending First Baptist Church in Elyria. Wilbur and his late wife Nona especially treasured their many years of traveling out west and being with their friends in Colony in the Wood. He will be sadly missed by his children grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilbur leaves to cherish his memory his sons Terry Quick and his wife Grace of Asheville North Carolina and Brian Quick of Elyria Ohio daughter in law Debra Quick of Elyria: his grandchildren Kim Kevin Courtney Kaleigh Brittni Katelyn and Jamey: and his great-grandchildren Bradley Peter Olivia Macy and Ellie. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of seventy years Nona Kate Quick on October 24 2008; his sons Dr. Bradley W. Quick on August 19 2010 and James Quick in 1988; and by his four brothers. Friends may call Monday September 20 2010 from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. Amherst. The Rev. Ronald Phillips associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Elyria will officiate. Graveside services will be held Saturday September 25 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Daytona Memorial Park Daytona Florida. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church; 11400 LaGrange Road Elyria OH 44035.
