Funeral service for Wesley J Howes 90 of Ormond Beach will be held on Monday July 31 at 2pm in the chapel of The Hospice of Volusia County 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange. His family will receive friends on Sunday July 30 from 5pm till 7pm in the chapel of Baggett & Summers funeral Home. Mr. Howes passed away Thursday morning at his residence.
Born in Lapeer Michigan he moved to this area in 1968 from Chelsea Michigan. An Army veteran of WW II stationed in the European Theatre he was part of the landing on Normandy. Wes was the owner of a Gambles store for 23 years in Chelsea and a realtor for Key Reality in Daytona for 10 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Daytona and he enjoyed golf bowling and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Ruby and their daughter Rebecca Hudson also of Ormond Beach. Also surviving is his grandson Spec. Sean Murray currently stationed in Fort Wainright Alaska with the Army.
