Wesley Joseph Babecki, Jr. 89 of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023.


He was born June 17, 1934 in Trenton, New Jersey to Wesley Sr. and Helen (Piontek) Babecki. Wesley served in the US Navy from 1952 - 1954 and was active during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Barton. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He married his post-war sweetheart, Wilma Florence (Kiss) Babecki in 1956. He lost his wife in 1997 after she fought a courageous battle with cancer.


Wesley and Wilma had 4 children - Wesley Babecki, III (Robin); Steven Babecki, who preceded his father in death; BethAnn Pariseau (Gregg Gurdak); and Lynn Hadley (Rick). The family relocated to Hollywood, Florida in 1971 where Wesley Jr. lived for 50 years before moving to Ormond Beach, FL.


Wesley Jr. spent many years in the family grocery business in New Jersey and retired while working for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Florida. In later years, he relished spending time with his growing legacy of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed rooting for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles, and was known to love an occasional lottery scratch off ticket.


In addition to his surviving children mentioned above, Wesley Jr is survived by seven grandchildren - Michael Babecki, Leslie Pomerleau, James Babecki, Christopher Babecki, Heather Pariseau, Caitlyn Hadley and Ryan Hadley. He is also survived by six great grandchildren - Thomas, Penelope, Jordan, Belen, Everly, and Ellody.


A Catholic Service will be celebrated on Friday, August 18th at 5:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 West Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends beginning at 4:00 pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
