Brudenell.
She generously volunteered her time to support the military community.
Wendy was lovingly known as “Nana” to everyone. When she was 15, her father passed away and her mother had to work to support the family. Wendy stepped in as a homemaker, helping to care for and raise her younger brothers and sisters.
In 1972, she married Timothy and began her life as a military wife and mother. She generously volunteered her time to support the military community and, over the years, held a variety of jobs, including house cleaning, stocking shelves, providing home day care, and working as a day care teacher. In 1994, she became certified as a National Child Development Associate.
After moving to Florida, Wendy worked at Sandcastle Learning Center for 16 years before retiring because of back problems. During her time there, she also qualified as a center director. She truly loved teaching children. At just 4 feet 10 inches tall, she was a favorite among the children, and she could often be found sitting on the floor, playing with them at their level.
Wendy’s greatest accomplishments could be seen every day in the way she cared for and loved the people around her. Small in stature but enormous in heart, she touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
She truly loved teaching children.
