Wava Jennette Kord our eternal optimist because of her faith in Jesus age 92 of Deland passed away quietly in the beauty of the Hospice Care Center in Edgewater on Tuesday April 5 2011. Services are pending at the Deland Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home.

Wava was born in Indiana to Oscar and Hilda Sloan and worked as a Psychiatric Aid for many years. She was a member of a rare breed; creative resourceful enthusiastic funny and effervescent with a kind gentle generous sweet spirit. She celebrated each day and blessed us with her inspirational strength and love for the beauty of life. Her fun loving temperament took center stage on April Fools Day and her unpretentious nature made her a hero of the underdog. She will be greatly missed.

Two brothers and Her husband of 37 years Leonard Kord preceded her in death and she leaves behind to cherish her memory 3 sons: Reggie (Alta) Meiring Curtis (Nancy) Meiring and Kenneth (Patricia) Meiring Jr. a daughter; Kristine (Friedrich) Morawietz the devoted friend and beloved father of her children; Kenneth Meiring Sr. 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was considered a mother and grandmother to others special to her.
