Warren Foss, 91, a resident of South Daytona soared into Heaven on Thursday, October19. Born in
Minnesota to Herman and Selma (Spelbrink) Foss in 1926, Warren was a typical rugged Minnesota boy
who, at an early age, learned to hunt with his brother and dad. In his youth, Warren found a love for
flying, which would later lead him to a career in the U.S. Air Force. Warren proudly served his country in
both Korea and Vietnam as an Air Force fighter pilot and served more than thirty years in the Armed
Forces, traveling far and wide before retiring as a full Colonel. Following his retirement, he served
several years as an instructor with Embry- Riddle University. Warren was quite the handy man as well.
He had a knack for constructing solutions to needs and problems and his ideas were later produced and
marketed by others. Warren will be laid to rest beside the love of his life, Shirley, but will leave behind
his two loving daughters, Carol Foss and Janice Eckgren, his grandson Steve (Stephanie) Eckgren, his
nephew Ron (JoEllen) Foss, and many friends near and far across the country. A Funeral Service will be
held for Warren on Friday October 27 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in South Daytona at 10 am, with
visitation beginning one half hour before Service. Those who wish may also share on line condolences
