Ward Parks 83 of Daytona Beach passed away May 3 2009. He was born January 6 1926 to Dwight and Sadie Parks in Waukegan IL. Ward attended Lincoln College in Illinois and received his commercial pilot's license in Miami at Embry-Riddle and flew a sight-seeing service in Minnesota. He went on to work for American Bridge Company and helped build the Mackinac Bridge. A stamp was dedicated to him as being the only person who ever survived a fall while building the bridge. When he relocated to Florida he worked in securities and investments and later began a family owned and operated seafood business "Florida Shrimp Inc. " which he and his son Steven ran. Ward was later employed by the State of Florida for eleven years as a Supervisor of Citrus Inspection in LaBelle Florida. After he retired he continued to work part time as a security guard in Daytona. In his spare time Ward enjoyed fishing and boating with his grandchildren who he loved dearly. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Taylor and his grandchildren Matthew and Madison Taylor all of Port Orange; his former wife Lila Parks of Daytona Beach and his sister Shirley Roy of South Carolina. He was predeceased by his two sons Steven W. Parks and Bradley E. Parks. A celebration of his life will be held Thursday evening May 14th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at The Countryside Clubhouse in Port Orange.
