Obituary

Wanda Bonnie O?Toole 90 of Port Orange passed away June 24 2005 after a short illness. Born in Oklahoma City Oklahoma she attended Oklahoma A&M University majoring in music. While there she met her husband of 66 years Maj. John H. O?Toole US Army. Before U.S. entry into WW II she traveled to Manila when John was assigned to help guard the Philippines. With war imminent she boarded the last ship leaving Manila for the States sailing through Japanese submarine-patrolled waters. Returning to Oklahoma City she worked as a secretary not knowing until six months after the war ended that John had survived the war in various Japanese prison camps. John?s work took the family to Denver San Juan the Canal Zone Jacksonville Orlando and back to Oklahoma. He and Bonnie retired to Daytona Beach Shores in 1977 from Stillwater Oklahoma and moved to Port Orange in 1987. She was a Presbyterian. Predeceased in death by her husband survivors include a son Michael Gulfport FL; a daughter Sally Reid and son-in-law Richard Reid Port Orange; a sister Maida Frensley Boulder Colorado; and grandchildren Henry Reid and Becky Reid. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Foundation 1101 N. Lake Destiny Dr. Maitland FL 32751.
