Wanda O.
Briley
Sep 4, 1940 — Feb 23, 2021
Ormond Beach
Wanda Osteen Briley went into the arms of our Lord and Savior on February 23, 2021. She was a member of the pioneer Osteen family, the oldest child of John Emanuel Osteen and Lula Tedder Osteen. Wanda was born on September 4, 1940 at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach. She attended Holly Hill Elementary School, Mainland Junior High School and was a 1958 graduate of Mainland High School. She attended beauty school at Daytona Beach Junior College, and became a hairdresser at Belks in Belair Plaza in the 1960's. She would marry William D. Briley in November, 1963, and have 2 children, Harold and Brooke, who were her pride and joy. Wanda enjoyed the numerous reunions and get togethers throughout the years with her Mainland graduating class. She enjoyed spending time with her family in the outdoors in her early years with her mom, dad, brother and sister, and joined later in life with her husband, son and daughter. The family would hunt deer, fish and camp together in the "Ormond Horseshoe" and later at Relay Wildlife Management Area. Wanda worked throughout her life, aside from being a beautician at Belks and raising 2 children, she worked for Ormond Beach Aviation, Security First Savings and Loan, First Union Bank, and the Office of the State Attorney, under the administrations of John Tanner, Steve Alexander and R.J. Larizza. In 2018, she retired from the State Attorney's Office after 25 years of service. She experienced some health issues after retirement, but never complained. She loved her family very much, and was so appreciative of all of the healthcare providers who always assisted her. She was always complimentary of them, and treated each one like they were part of her family. Special thanks to Wanda's daughter-in-law, Lori, for her outstanding and loving care at home.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Harold D. Briley, II (Lori); Brooke Briley Yancey (Joshua); sister Ann Reiner; brother John E. Osteen, Jr. (Terri); grandchildren Ashlyn Yancey, Landon Yancey and Alex Osuna, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Tomoka Christian Church located at 1450 Hand Avenue in Ormond Beach, beginning at 11:30 A.M. with visitation starting one hour prior. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue in Daytona Beach. Those who wish may also share condolences with the family here online.
