Walter Wolcott 87 of New Smyrna Beach Florida passed away May 9 2009. A memorial service will be held at Kirkland Sod on Thursday May 14th at 6:30pm. Walter was born on June 30 1921 in Orangeville NY to Van and Letha Warren Wolcott. He began his career as a head mechanic during the building of Mount Morris Dam in Mount Morris NY. He later went on to work as a mechanic for Glen Flint in Pike NY for many years. In 1958 Walter and his family relocated to Lake Wales Florida where he worked as a mechanic in a body shop until he retired. In his spare time he could be found fishing hunting or simply riding around the property with his friend Elmer in his "swamp buggy." Walter's friends and family will remember him most for always being there to lend a helping hand to those in need. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Merilee; son Bob (Gail) Wolcott of Edgewater; sisters Avis Glosser and Verna Schneckenburger of Warsaw NY; grandchildren Denise (Chris) Nash of Abilene TX Nicole (Brian) Chambers of Pfafftown NC Stacey Wolcott of Edgewater FL; great-grandchildren Meghan and Shane Nash and Brianna and Kayla Chambers.
