Walter (Walt) James McMahon II died on January 30, 2015 at Florida Memorial Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL. Walt was born on March 29, 1937 in Syracuse, NY. He was a loving husband and father. He and his wife, Lorraine (Walczyk), were married on June 20, 1959, at Sacred Heart Church in Syracuse, NY. His five children were born within a six year period in five different locations due to military assignments and Walt was most proud of their many and varied accomplishments. Walt was also very proud to be a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy (1955) in Syracuse, NY and the Air Force Institute of Technology (1968) in San Antonio, TX with B.S.E.E. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957 and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1980. He then was employed by the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA, as a senior engineer on the B-52, B-1, and B-2 bomber programs. Walt and Lorraine retired in 1993 and established a permanent home in Ormond Beach, FL, and spent their summers in Henderson, NY on Lake Ontario. Walt will be remembered for his interest in model trains, the Knights of Columbus, and road trips. Walt is survived by his wife, Lorraine, (56 happy years together), two daughters, and three sons: Wally and Ingrid McMahon, of Upper Saddle River, NJ, Lori Ann Fortkort, of Lincolnton, NC, Ellen McMahon, of Kirkland, WA, Frank and Leslie McMahon, of Houston, TX, and Bill and Lisa McMahon, of Las Vegas, NV, and 10 grandchildren. A Funeral Mass for Walt will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Avenue, Syracuse, with Fr. Fred Mannara as celebrant. It was Walt's wish to be cremated and buried in the family plot at Assumption Cemetery, located on Court Street in Syracuse.
