Funeral Services for Walter E. McMillen 87 of Port Orange who passed away on March 13 2007 will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday March 17 2007 at the Daytona Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes with Dr. Bob Elzey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private. Walter was born on May 14 1919 to the late Edgar and Olive McMillen in Hammond Indiana. He attended Purdue University and was a pilot for the U.S. Coast Guard for 6 years honorably serving his country during WWII. Walter was later employed by Honeywell where he worked for numerous years until his retirement. He was an avid boater and enjoyed building model boats. He leaves his children to cherish his memory Larry (Ginger) McMillen Linda Ackerman and Cherie (Rick) Thompson; grandchildren Bridget Kristie Ryan Troy Michelle Tyler and Trevor; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Mildred. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in honor of Walter to your favorite charity.
