Obituary

Virgle "Virgie" H. McCain loving wife and devoted mother peacefully passed away on February 7 2012 in Ormond Beach FL. Her funeral will be held Saturday February 11th at 10am in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Her family will receive friends on Friday Feb. 10th from 7:30pm-9:00pm also in the chapel.

Lovingly referred to as Virg or Virgie she was born in Daytona Beach FL on February 13 1926 to Daniel and Ila Lee Harris. She raised her children in Daytona Beach Baltimore MD and in the suburbs of Chicago and then returned to this area 32 years ago. As a young woman Virgie was adventurous and took flying lessons while studying at Stetson University. She worked for 25 years as an administrator for Service Master she was a longtime member of the Halifax River Yacht Club and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Daytona Beach. Always having a zeal for life Virgie loved to entertain host card parties and line dance. And she will always be fondly remembered as the baker of the best Pineapple Upside-down Cake you could ever have.

She will remain in the hearts of her family forever and is survived by her husband of 39 years Harding "Mac" McCain of Daytona Beach FL; her two sons Truman "Roy" Gailey and wife Sherry of Ormond Beach Larry Werner and fianc Pat McClusky of Winfield IL; her grandsons Mark Gailey and wife Cheryl Jo'nette of Ormond Beach and Michael Gailey and wife Tammy Rena of Santa Rosa Beach FL; her 3 great grandchildren Meghan Renee Michaela Rena and McKenna Jane Gailey; her brother Thomas C. Harris and wife Ruth of Sanford FL; four nieces Roberta Harris of Jacksonville FL Anita and husband Mark James Deland FL Annette and husband Gregg Pounders Ft. Myers FL and Angela and husband Bill Kinley South Carolina; two nephews Ed Harris of AZ and T.J. and wife Christina Harris Sanford; and her husband's children Kathy McCain and Dan McCain and their families Richard Farmer Anthony Farmer Gina and Harry Forsyth Ethan and Alyssa Forsyth and Rachel McCain. She was preceded in death by two brothers Robert and Leroy Harris and two sisters Stella Crawford and Leona Pollard.
