Virginia V. Freed 88 of Daytona Beach passed away April 4 2009. Services will be private. She was born September 27 1920 in Reading PA to the late Harry C. and Maggie M. Bentz. She and her late husband Russell J. Freed moved to Daytona Beach in 1952. She was employed by Sun Trust Bank until her retirement in 1974. Virginia then went into the real estate business for 8 years. After her retirement from this business she and her husband became sales representatives and travel escorts for Atlantic Travel until 1992. She did volunteer work for Sensational Seniors Tours and was President of the Colonial Organ Society for 11 years. Virginia had a long standing career as a soloist having sung for many weddings special services at the Daytona Beach Band Shell cruise ships and Masonic and Elk Lodge affairs. She was an ordained elder of the United Presbyterian Church and Patron of the Christian Alliance Church and recently joined the Colony Community Church as an associate member. Virginia was past President and chairman of fund raising for the Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation. She is survived by her daughter Sherri L. Hackney of Palm Beach Gardens FL and her grandson Mark Hackney of Williston FL.
