Virginia Irene Champnella 89 of Ponce Inlet was called to her heavenly home on Saturday February 27 2010. A Memorial Service will be held today Monday March 1st at 2:30 pm with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home 736 S. Beach Street Daytona Beach 236-1100.

Called Irene by all who knew her she was born in Pointe Marion Pennsylvania to Lewis Edward and Nellie Blosser. In the late 1930's she attended high school in Morgantown West Virginia where she met and later married Frederic. Since 1985 they shared homes between Riverview MI and Ponce Inlet FL. Irene an artist was also an intensely devoted needle-pointer who spent countless hours completing dozens of designs which now hang in her home as well the homes of her children. She also was an avid reader and daily completed crossword puzzles to as she would say "keep my mind sharp."

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 70 years Frederic E. Champnella daughters Cheryl Boyd and husband Ernie of Cadiz KY and Linda Dean and husband Robert of Muscatine IA; sons Frederic E. Champnella II and wife Stephanie of Farmington MI; Dennis Champnella and wife Debra of Daytona Beach Shores and David Champnella and wife Esther of Flatrock MI; and 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and brother Robert C. Jobes of Riverview MI. She is preceded in death by her parents daughter Sandra Brunnel of Farmington NM grandson Brent of Plymouth MI and sister Evelyn Rogers of Ponce Inlet FL.
