Obituary

Virgil Rex Johnston, 93, of Deland, received his Heavenly reward on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. He was born on December 18, 1924 in Grove, Oklahoma, the son of the late Parker and. Ninett Johnston. Virgil was a WWII Marine Veteran and an Elder at his church, The Open Door Christian Church in DeLand. He was loved by all. Virgil is survived by his wife, November 28th would have been 43 years, Lola M Johnston, his children and their husbands and wives; Michael R (Debbie) Johnston, Monica Casto, Pamela (Roger) Rash, John Ingram, Mark (Gayle) Ingram, Scott (Kim) Ingram, Timothy Ingram and his daughter-in –law, Marta Ingram. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Marvin (Barbara) Johnston and Eldon (Nancy) Johnston and his sister, Mary Fahnestock, all of Miami, Oklahoma. Virgil was predeceased by his son Carl Ingram and his five brothers; Jim, Hubert, Floyd, Dale and Junior Johnston, also by his two sisters, Thelma Walker and Pearl Alkinson. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Lohman Funeral Home Deland, 935 E. New York Ave., Deland. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 11, 2018 at The Open Door Christian Church, 1700 S. Clara Ave., Deland. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Open Door Christian Church, Deland, 1700 S. Clara Ave., Deland, FL 32720
