Violet "Marie" Forrester Snipes, age 73, was born in Grenada, Mississippi known as 'The City that smiles'. Marie carried that with her throughout her life. She was very well known for her beautiful smile and her ability to make those around her smile effortlessly. Beloved wife of John W. Snipes and loving mother of Troy, Dale, Todd, and Shane Snipes. Beloved sister of Jeanne Absher and sister of late Alice Durham. Adoring grandmother of Justin, Amanda, Patrick, Ashleigh, Brittany, Meghan, Jordan, Jarrett, Haley, Wes, Reese, Savannah, Koen, and Jace. Adoring great-grandmother of Kadyn, Jace, Ashton, Andre, Wil, Landon, and Lillianna.

She and her family moved from Mississippi to Columbia, South Carolina. She obtained her license as a beautician and during that time she met and fell in love with John, who became the love of her life. John and Marie joined hands and became one by marriage at Saint Luke's Lutheran Parsonage in Columbia, South Carolina on August 11, 1962. They began their family after the birth of Troy and Dale and then moved to Florida. They extended their household by two more boys, Todd and Shane. While raising a busy household, Marie opened her own local beauty salon, trained restaurant staff, and managed finances at local restaurants. Marie founded All Florida Typesetting & Graphic Arts, All Florida Apparel, and traveled locally and around the country to annual bike week shows. She enjoyed decorating at home and creating beautiful hand made crafts she frequently gifted to family and friends. Marie and John enjoyed traveling both together and with family. They were fortunate enough to see many of the most beautiful and desired vacation destinations in the world.

Marie was a fountain of joy for all. She found much pride and joy in her family as it continued to expand with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent much of her time loving each and everyone around her and considered everyone family. Moral backbone was the hallmark of her presence. Marie was well known for staying in touch with her large and continuously growing family. She was always a simple phone call or short drive away. She was always there for anyone that ever needed an ear to be listened by, a shoulder to cry on, arms to be held in, and had a heart big enough for everyone to fit. We will continue to remember her limitless vitality, strength, patience, and wisdom. Marie will remain in our hearts forever. We are all beyond blessed that God allowed us the time with her that He did.
