Vincent "Vinny" Paul Del Guercio, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Vince was born in Cedar Grove, NJ to Alfonse Del Guercio Sr. and Caroline Bousquet. Vince graduated from Titusville High School (Titusville, FL) in 1981. Vince spent 28 years in public safety and retired as a Sergeant with the Daytona Beach Police Department in 2011. Prior to working for Daytona Beach, Vince served with the Kennedy Space Center Security Forces and as a Corporal with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
Vince was proud of his lifetime of law enforcement service ensuring the safety of his family and his community. During his career, Vince received numerous commendations and awards for his service, bravery, and valor. Upon his retirement, Vince continued to his service to public safety as a law enforcement representative for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters until finally retiring in 2016, after 33 years of service to others.
Vince enjoyed many activities including spending time with his family watching his daughters and grandchildren grow, time at the firing range with family and friends, feeding the deer and watching them grow in his back yard, and most recently traveling with his wife in their RV. He enjoyed spending his Sundays cheering on the Miami Dolphins and watching NASCAR races while cheering on Tony Stewart to the checkered flag.
Vince will be sadly missed by many family and friends. He is survived and will be DEEPLY missed by his wife, Karen Del Guercio; two daughters, Lia Mangiaracina (Matthew) and Olivia Del Guercio; a daughter-in-law, Rachael Thomas (Ty); a son-in-law, Jimmy Krause (Amanda); a brother, Alfonse Del Guercio Jr. (Amy); two sisters, Lisa Wallace (Robert) and Nina Maul (Terry); his mother, Caroline Bousquet; a stepbrother, Gregg Gonzales (Gosha); and a stepsister, Tamara Eagle. Also left to cherish his memory are his granddaughters, Payten and Aiden Krause, and a grandson Crew Thomas, all who named him and lovingly called him "Vinchy". Vince is preceded in death by his father, Alfonse Del Guercio Sr.; a stepmother, Sidney Del Guercio; and an infant son, Andrew Del Guercio.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 18 at Lohman Funeral home 733 West Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. Family viewing will be from 10-10:30am, friends from 10:30am-1pm. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1pm. There will be a celebration of life at Houligans (1725 W International Speedway Blvd, Daytona Beach) beginning at 2pm. Donations in honor of Vince are encouraged in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul charities with any Catholic Parish. Vince believed deeply about this charity and gave generously and frequently.
