IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Victor
Lohman
August 19, 1951 – August 9, 2024
It's hard to imagine hosting a party without Victor Lohman in the room. A consummate dancer and Michael Jackson fan, no one had a better swag or version of the Funky Chicken than Victor.
While showered with love and affection, Victor left us to continue his heavenly dance on August 9, 2024.
A native Floridian, Victor was born to Edgar Lohman and Opal Mae Holland on August 19, 1951. He grew up in Vero Beach, FL, a town he continued to love throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years then began his career as a lifelong cemeterian. He, his brothers and his parents owned and operated cemeteries and funeral homes across Florida before he retired for the first time at age 38. In 2002, thirteen years later, he came out of retirement and joined Lowell, Nancy and Ty to own and operate the Lohman group of funeral homes and cemeteries. All together, Victor owned and operated over 30 cemeteries and funeral homes with his family. Victor's success in the cemetery industry was unmatched. His devotion to high standards and best practices coupled by his expertise in proper cemetery management led to the Lohman family's greatest success ~ the enormous challenge of transforming Daytona Memorial Park into a respected and professionally operated cemetery.
Victor met the love of his life, Mary McAree, on St. Patrick's Day 27 years ago on a date that included Lowell and Nancy. They married 26 years later to-the-day on St. Patrick's Day 2023. Together, Victor and Mary enjoyed family gatherings, beach outings, and pool parties with their son and grandchildren as they enjoyed the beautiful river view from their backyard.
Victor's passion for sports was equally matched by his athletic talent. He played competitive 7-on-7 flag football for over 20 years, winning the National U.S. Touch and Flag Football Championship with his teammates including his brothers Lowell and Daryl. They won 3 flag football state and national titles during his career and was inducted with his teammates into the FL Flag Football Hall of Fame. Prior to his flag football success, Victor was a high school baseball star pitcher and hitter. He set a school and state record pitching a 20-strike out game and led his team in hitting. He was also a talented tennis player and golfer with a scratch handicap. He won multiple club championships at Oceanside Country Club as well as many golf tournaments across Florida. He was the Volusia Amateur Golf Champion multiple times and went on to compete in the Senior Professional Tournament in Portugal.
For over 50 years Victor lived life to its fullest all while managing his Type 1 Diabetes. He had more best friends than anyone you'll ever meet. Victor's enthusiasm for sports, music, dancing, and comradery coupled with his impeccable taste, sense of fashion and big smile made him the life of the party.
Victor's true pride and joy were his son Christopher and his three grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, and Ella who each in their own way carry Papa's legacy forward. He loved nothing more than watching Jacob excel in sports, Caleb's fashion style & swag, and Ella's dance & cheer competitions.
Victor will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Mary, his son Christopher, his three grandchildren Jacob, Caleb, and Ella, his brother Lowell and sister-in-law Nancy, his brother Daryl and sister-in-law Christine, his nephews Brian, Ty, and Michael, niece Lauren, his great nephews and nieces, extended family, their Maine Coon cat Brewster, and a multitude of friends. His family is deeply appreciative of the compassionate care recently provided to him by the exceptional team of nurses, PT professionals and caregivers.
Please join us to celebrate Victor's life. His family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5pm-7pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. His funeral service will be Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11am, also at the Funeral Home. His family will receive friends beginning at 10:30am prior to the service. Immediately following the service, his family invites you to join in procession to the Lohman Private Estate at Daytona Memorial Park for his interment service with Military Honors.
Memorial donations may be made in Victor's honor to the Lohman Diabetes Center, c/o Halifax Health Foundation, 303 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach, FL 32114 and/or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 8815 Conroy Windermere Rd., Suite 309, Orlando, FL 32835.
