Vallie J. Smallwood, 63, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed peacefully on June 12, 2014, at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Daytona Beach, Florida. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.
Vallie was born February 19, 1951 in Macon, Georgia to Joseph and Dorathy (James) Jackson. She was a homemaker, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Tuesday Lunch Ladies. Vallie enjoyed crafting her skills in stain glass art, photography, and crochet, she enjoyed cooking, playing the piano, and traveling, but mostly she loved spending time with the grandchildren. She was once active in the PTA, drove a school bus, and provided her care as a school nurse. She was also the caregiver to her mother and father.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph W. Smallwood, Jr., Ormond Beach, two sons, Joseph W. Smallwood III and his wife Melissa of Atworth, Georgia, and Joseph D. Smallwood and his wife Dawn of Holly Hill, Florida, by her grandchildren, Will, Abby, and Konner, as well as her brother, Daniel Jackson of Georgia, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Lillian Francis Dixon.
