Valentine C. Warnert (Val), 76, of Daytona Beach died Monday April 7, 2014.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. The family will receive guests for a viewing one hour prior to the service; the burial will immediately follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
Val was born in St. Joseph, Minnesota on May 19, 1937 to Elmer and Catherine Warnert. He graduated from Paynesville, Minnesota High School in 1955 lettering in several sports. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1955 and served his country honorably for 20 years. While in service he earned his degree from the United States Armed Forces Institute. He also played semi-pro football for the Norfolk Blue Jackets in the mid 1950's. While in service to his country he earned many decorations, including the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm. After his military service he was employed by the New York Supreme Court for 25 years. While in New York he coached Pop Warner Football for over a decade.
He was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Catherine Warnert; brothers, Larry and David; sisters, Louise, and Yvonne.
Survivors include his sons, Rex (Maria) Warnert, and Noel Warnert of Maryland; sisters, Marjorie and Yvette of Minnesota; brother, Maurice of Florida; step children; Scott Vanderwarf, Julia (Goran) Halusa, Vicki Vooris, and Jeffery (Amy) Tempel; caregiver, Devina Edwards; wife, Linda Warnert; fourteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
