IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Troy J.
Stacey
September 13, 1961 – May 19, 2025
Troy J. Stacey, 63, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Troy was born in Sioux City, Iowa to Sandra Craft and Dickie McClary. Sandra Craft later remarried Joseph Stacey Jr. when Troy was very young. Troy and his sister Shannon were adopted by the Stacey family. Troy had a half brother during that marriage, Joseph Stacey III.
Troy loved the water and learned how to dive in High School. He hoped to have a career in Oceanography or Forestry, but lifelong health issues kept him from those educational goals. Rather, he became a skilled Computer Programmer in the IT world.
In his 20's, Troy came to know the Sartori family through his sister. Catherine and Donald Sartori took to Troy and called him "their family". The whole Sartori family, including Jim, Bob (wife Kim), and Toni (husband Tom) welcomed Troy and treated him like family throughout his lifetime. A family and relationship deeply cherished by Troy.
While in his 30's, Troy met his biological dad, Dickie McClary. In addition to meeting him, Troy got to know some of his biological relatives on the McClary side of the family: Uncles, Dave and Riley; half-brother, David; half-sisters, Daisha, Alicia and Chelsea; and many cousins. Over the years, Troy had developed a real fondness for his Uncle Dave McClary. Troy didn't get to spend much time visiting him, but he really enjoyed his conversations with him.
Troy was a very quiet, private person. Though he had several friendships that, to him, were lifelong branches grafted into who he called family. This includes his brother-in-law, Michael Longfellow, who treated Troy like his own brother for 20 years; Linda, Christopher, Amanda, and Roger Borg, who Troy knew from his days living and working on Long Island, New York; and Cindy and Eric Allard from Chatham, Illinois. These friends brought so much joy to Troy, he continued to recount all the fun he had with them up until his passing.
Troy's career took him to many states, but he was never far from his sister, Shannon, and his only nephew, James Troy Sartori (JT). His most cherished role was Uncle and Godfather to his nephew, and he absolutely loved spending time with JT. While working, Troy would take all his vacation time visiting Shannon and JT. Troy eventually ended up moving to Port Orange, Florida to be near Shannon and JT, where he lived until his passing.
