A Memorial Service for Thomas "Tommy" Lawrence McQuoid age 83 who passed away Thursday November 20th will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond at 11:00am on Saturday November 29th with Pastor Bill Owens of First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at FL National Cemetery with Military Honors. Born in St. Louis Missouri on May 15 1925 to Cecilia and James McQuoid Tommy began his military career as a young seventeen year old man. By age nineteen Tommy was copiloting B-24 bomber over Germany during WWII. His Air Force career spanned twenty six years and he retired as a Lt. Col. in 1968. He was a safety engineer with GE which brought his family to the Ormond Beach area forty years ago. After retirement Tommy began a thriving second career as the owner of McQuoid Associates a real estate and property appraiser. He was an active member of the Military Officers of the World War and served as the District Commander for the State of Florida. He was a member of the Halifax River Yacht Club and served as the 1995 Commodore. Tommy was an adjunct professor for DBCC and was also an avid golfer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years Betsy and their son Thomas "Buzzy" L. McQuoid of Holly Hill FL and his brothers-in-law Dr. Ken Gill (Margaret) of Sturgeon Bay WI and Dr. Don (Betty Jo) Gill of Ormond Beach FL.
