Thomas James Schmelzle, 83 of Port Orange, FL passed away on September 19, 2026.

Tom was born on January 13, 1943 in Hamtramck, MI to the late Cornelius and Eleanor Schmelzle.

He is survived by his wife Ann; his daughter Maria and son John, granddaughters Peyton, Morgan and Alexandria and great grandchildren Levi, Penelope, Maxine, Chrisan Jr and Lily. He was preceded in death by his wife Constance and brothers Robert, Richard and Donald.

Tom was devout follower of Christ who devoted his life to serving his family and those around him. He enjoyed a nearly forty-year career at Chrysler Corporation retiring in 2008 as an automotive engineer and resettling to FL.

A lifelong outdoorsman, he generously shared his love and knowledge of hunting and fishing and had a special affection for Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he participated in a nearly fifty-year tradition of deer camp with some of his closest friends who preceded him in death.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 24, 2026, 11AM in the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona Chapel. A visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
