Thomas J. Pereira 72 of Ormond Beach Florida died January 24 2009 after fighting a long illness. A memorial service will be held at Prince of Peach Catholic Church 600 S. Nova Road Ormond Beach FL at 11:00am in the chapel. Tom was born and raised in Westfield Massachusetts. As a young man he proudly served our country in the US Air force during the Korean War. He later attended Westfield State College where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and for most of his working years worked as a clerk at the school. During his time off from his job at the school he could be found coaching a local youth soccer team or as an active member of the local Knights of Columbus. After retiring in 1995 he spent the winters in Ormond Beach and in 2000 he relocated and became a full time resident in Ormond. Tom's daily routine was attending church and having breakfast with some of his closest friends at Einstein Bagels. Tom has been described as having a wonderful sense of humor who thoroughly enjoyed sports. Those who knew him were often astonished with the wealth of knowledge he had acquired over his lifetime. Although he was a very private man he was not afraid to show the love he had for his family and will be dearly missed by all. Tom is survived by his son Thomas Pereira of Westfield Massachusetts and nieces Rosemary Brown of Ormond Beach Florida and Georgann (Lane) Farnum of South Egremont Massachusetts.
