IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Henry
Orban
March 6, 1952 – January 26, 2024
Thomas Henry Orban lived a good life lasting nearly 72 years. He was born March 6, 1952 to Eugene and Marjorie Orban, of North Morenci, Michigan -- one of ten children. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hudson Michigan, where he served as an altar boy. He graduated from Morenci High School, and from Michigan State University in 1975. He enjoyed music, hanging out with friends at Lime lake, and riding his motorcycle(s). He enjoyed cooking and his brother-in-law Francis Chao remembers Tom baking a black raspberry pie, served with a complete home cooked meal. He was an expert carpenter, with broad knowledge of construction. He remodeled a house with his brother John while both were still attending college. He built his first two homes in Michigan, with precision, quality and beauty. He also built many beautiful pieces of furniture, including tables, entertainment centers, hutches, a display case, a roll-top desk which was a collaboration with his father who fabricated the sliding top portion. Tom produced high-end custom work to order through his company, Bear Construction. He married Jacqueline Laird on Valentines Day, and they were together for 33 years until her passing. In 2012 he met and fell in love with Mary Carlson, and they became inseparable. Tom was a wonderful husband, brother, and friend. He practiced his Catholic faith, was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus, and enjoyed singing in the choir and traveling with Mary. It is said that when seen together, they were always holding hands. Tom is loved and missed by so many.
Tom is survived by brothers and sisters, James Orban(Chris), Liz Orban(Frank Chao), Susan Orban, Deborah Orban, Rebecca Orban, John Orban(Laurie), Margaret Walker, and Paul Orban. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Cecelia Orban, and his nephew James Clay Orban.
