Thomas F. McGlone 88 of Ormond Beach FL passed away on January 11 2012 at his home. The family will receive friends on Sunday; January15th between the hours of 4-7 pm at Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday; January 16th at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 600 S. Nova Road Ormond Beach.
Thomas was born on May 13 1923 in Brooklyn NY to Thomas and Elizabeth (McCarron) McGlone. He was very proud to serve his country during WW II in the US Navy where he was engaged in the battle of Anzio and received two commendations in the south of France. He then went on to serve in Korea followed by the New York City police department retiring at the rank of Captain. He and his wife relocated to Volusia County in 1979 from Long Island NY. He was a devoted parishioner at Prince of Peace Catholic Church Ormond Beach enjoyed genealogy taking his wife out on the town and wrote a book about his Navy adventures titled The History and War Diary of the U.S.S. LST 174 most of all he loved being with his wife and family.
Thomas is survived by his wife of sixty years Connie McGlone Ormond Beach daughters Karen Anderson Daytona Beach FL and Jeanne and Henrik Scottsdale Arizona son Thomas P. McGlone Sonoma California by three grandchildren Ashley Brandi and Christian by his brothers Edward and Peter McGlone and his sisters Mary and Ann all of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Michael Anderson who was killed in action in Iraq in 2004.
