Obituary

Thomas Edward Harding, 62, of East Rockaway, NY, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2020, surrounded by his wife and three children.

He was born to parents Arthur and Helen, on April 18, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY.

Tommy joined the East Rockaway Fire Department in October 1977. He served as Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and finally Chief of Department in 1994-1995.

He served over 10 years as President of Hose Co. #1, and continued to served on many committees in the company and the department. Tom was one of the founding members of the Battalion's Burn Center fundraiser back in the early 1990s that continues as a strong tradition to this day.

Tom was a proud 42 year member of Local 3 IBEW. He started the apprenticeship in August of 1978. His most recent posting was Foreman at Ground Zero from 2001 to 2017. He retired in 2017 from 9/11 related illness.
Tom was a longtime foreman for Bel Air Electric, Black Box Electric and Allcom Electric.

Thomas is survived by his wife Kimberley, his ex-wife Barbara, his three children Courtney (Earl), Thomas (Destiny) & Nicole (Ben), and his three brothers Arthur (Cindy), Glenn (Laura) & Kenny (Kristi). He also leaves behind three beautiful grandchildren - Liam, Dakota & Amelia, along with many nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Helen.

Thomas was always known for his funny and carefree personality, and was loved by many. He had a lifelong brotherhood with his fellow firefighters and electricians. He is also remembered for his love of the New York Mets and New York Jets.
