Obituary

Funeral services for Thomas A. Eickmeyer 72 of Daytona Beach who passed away ay Florida Hospital-Ormond Memorial on Friday February 29 2008 will be 7:00pm Thursday March 6 2008 at Baggett & Summers Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm also on Thursday at Baggett & Summers.
Thomas was born in St. Louis MO in 1935 to George and Emma Eickmeyer (both deceased). It was there that he met Faye his future wife. Thomas would visit the bar where Faye worked and teach her how to make new cocktails just as an excuse to see her. They married in 1967 and adopted their son Karl three years later. In 1972 the family relocated to the Washington DC area where Thomas continued his career with the U.S. General Accounting Office. Throughout his career Thomas worked with many important figures including Senator Robert Kennedy (in whose book ""The Enemy Within"" Thomas was mentioned) and Senator John Glenn. When it came time to retire the family moved to Daytona Beach FL where Thomas finally allowed himself a chance to relax mostly on the golf course. When he wasn't playing golf he enjoyed financial pursuits (such as following the stock market) and acting as treasurer for his homeowners' association. Thomas was known for ""not having a mean bone in his body"" and always put his friends and family before himself. Everyone he met was taken by his level-headed demeanor quirky sense of humor and above all his kindness and generosity. Thomas is survived by his wife Faye son Karl brother Dean and sister Carol as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and he will be greatly missed.
