Thomas Clarence
Coles
Sep 7, 1942 — Oct 17, 2018
Palm Coast
Thomas Clarence Coles, affectionately known as Tommy, passed away on 17 October 2018. Thomas C. Coles, the son of the late James Thomas Coles and Pauline Lark was born on the 7 September 1942 in Edenborn, PA. Thomas grew up and attended school in McClellandtown, PA until he struck out on his own. He lived and worked in New York City prior to joining the United States Army in 1961. He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas and honorably discharged in 1967. After leaving the Army, Thomas worked in Washington, DC for C&P Telephone Company, Western Union and Dyncorp as a Manager in the Telecommunications industry. On 16 November 1997 he joined the Spirit of Faith Christian Center where he developed a yearning to serve the Lord, by giving his life over to Christ and was water baptized 21 October 1998. Thomas became a minister in training by entering into the Minister Internship Program for 2 years (2001 – 2002). Thomas retired after a successful career with Dyncorp in 2004, and shortly after retirement, he relocated to Palm Coast, Florida, where he would unite with a new church family Church of Rock. He led an in-home bible study which he enjoyed until his illness. In June 2007, he and Myra Hart joined in holy matrimony, forging an impenetrable foundation through their unified journey in serving Christ. Thomas lived life to the fullest, putting God and family first. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and grandfather, caring brother, and loyal friend to many. Thomas loved to laugh and could light up a room. An avid sports enthusiast, Thomas was an unwavering fan of the Washington Redskins and Pittsburgh Steelers. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory; his loving wife, Myra Coles, beloved children, Monica Coles of Fort Washington, MD (Mother--Janice), Robert Tipton (LaTanya) of Perris, CA, and his sister, Sharon Dove of Chantilly, VA (Keith). Thomas aka "Pap-Pap" and "Uncle Tommy" leaves behind five grandchildren; Sherman Scott Taylor Jr., Dante Franklin, Ashlee Taylor, Robert Dominique Tipton, Marquise Deandre Tipton; one great grandson, Moses; one great granddaughter, Leilah; his nieces Rachel and Oliva Dove, and a host of cousins and friends. His cherished mentor Al Johnson will also miss him dearly. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Jordan, late wife Doris Coles, Sherman Taylor. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Church on the Rock, 3000 State Street, Bunnell, Florida 32110. Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online website.
