Thomas "Tom" Albert Cambre passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 94 in Bradenton, Florida. He was born on June 30, 1930,in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Melvin Joseph "Skeeter" Cambre, Sr. and Juanita McGatlin Cambre. Tom dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his community.
Tom's early life was marked by his service in the U.S. Navy, where he served during the Korean War. His military career took him to California, where he and his beloved wife, Jacquelene "Jackie" Goodrich Cambre, lived briefly before moving back to Florida. After his honorable discharge, Tom worked at Southern Bell until his retirement in 1983.
Tom and Jackie shared a deep love and commitment until her passing in 2003. After her death, Tom eventually moved to live with his daughter in Parrish, Florida, and spent his last years at the Freedom Plaza Memory Care Facility in Sun City Center.
A man of many interests, Tom was an active member of the Daytona 200 Motorcycle Club, the Daytona Dirt Riders, and the Eagles Club in the Ocala Forest. These organizations brought him much joy and camaraderie throughout his life.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Charlene Cambre Hoffmeister of Parrish, Florida; sons, Thomas Richard Cambre of Geneva, Florida, and William Joseph "Bill" Cambre of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Joseph "Skeeter" Cambre, Sr. and Juanita McGatlin Cambre; his brother, Melvin Joseph "Bill" Cambre, Jr.; and his wife, Jackie.
Visitation for Tom will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at noon, followed by a service and interment at 1:00 p.m. at the Daytona Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Tom will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and veteran who lived a full and honorable life.
