Theodore (Ted) Emanuel Fundoukos, 80, of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away July 3, 2017. Ted was born in Akron, OH on January 16, 1937. He received his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Akron, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

Throughout his life, Ted worked in the aeronautical and aerospace industries including working on the Apollo human spaceflight program. His employers included NASA, the Boeing Company, and the United States Department of Defense.

Ted lived in Alamogordo, NM, Santa Maria, CA, Cape Canaveral, FL, Seattle, WA, and Wichita, KS until he retired to New Smyrna Beach where he enjoyed his home, playing tennis, and fishing the Intercoastal Waterway.

Ted devoted his life to his family and his faith. Wherever he lived, he actively participated in the life of the local Greek Orthodox church. Most notably, he served as the treasurer of the parish councils at both the Holy Trinity and St. Demetrios churches in Wichita, KS and Daytona Beach, FL, respectively. Additionally, he was active in AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) and was instrumental in the development of the AHEPA Odyssey Memorial, an historical landmark located in New Smyrna Beach.

Ted was preceded in death by his dear parents Peter E. and Anna Fundoukos, his birthmother Sophia Fundoukos, his beloved sister Francis (David) Walters, and brothers-in-law Emmanuel Psarakis, and Walter Sullivan. He is survived by his sisters Becky (Chris) Zeheralis (Carmel, IN), Patricia Sullivan (Deland, FL) and Catherine Psarakis (Orlando, FL), brother-in-law David Walters, and his nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family also recognizes the devoted friendship of John Xynitis and Fred Chandler as well as his caregivers, Lisa, Velma, and Jackie.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 129 N Halifax Ave, Daytona Beach, FL.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 9, at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL from 4-6 pm, with a Trisagion service at 5 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 10, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Daytona Beach at 10 am.
