One of Daytona Beach's more altruistic citizens Thelma Alice Kirkpatrick passed away on June 4 2008 at Port Orange Hospice Care Center at the age of 89. She was the mother of Kenneth Kirkpatrick (Gail) of Sterling Heights Michigan and Gail Calleja of Daytona Beach. Her husband Clyde Ewing Kirlpatrick of over 28 years preceded her in death in 1968 in Detroit Michigan. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1970 and was employed at the Aladdin Inn as a clerk before retiring in 1982.Visitation will be Sunday June 8 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at The Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange with a memorial service 11:00 a.m. Monday June 9th at the Westminister-By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church with Rev. George Painter officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Westminister By The Sea Presbyterian Church 3221 S. Peninsula Drive Daytona Beach Florida 32118.She was a very active member of the Westminister By The Sea Presbyterian Church where she was an usher greeter and helped on the monthly newsletter. She also watched young children while their mother attended the M.O.P.S. gatherings.Thelma enjoyed traveling to visit relatives and friends in Michigan as well as vacation anywhere anytime.She took great pleasure in working with her daughter Gail on the Christmas Wish List sponsored by Children and Family services for the past 14 tears She used her bargaining skills to make the most of the money that was donated to the cause Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she wanted seniors handicapped and hundreds of under privileged children to have something to open. She loved to walk on the beach and was always available to walk for a cause. She walked many miles to support various groups.Surviving to cherish her memory is her son Kenneth Kirkpatrick (Gail) of Sterling Heights Michigan; her daughter Gail Calleja of Daytone Beach with whom she resided; three grandchildren Kimberly (Brad) Brubaker of Daytona Beach Thomas Kirkpatrick of Sterling Heights Michigan and Richard Kirkpatrick of Warren Michigan Two adored Great Grandchildren Brooke Brubaker and Nicole Brubaker of Daytona Beach her nieces Barbara Senkovich of Daytona Beach; her great niece Linda Samaan of Daytona Beach ; her great nephew Michael Senkovich of Daytona Beach. She will be deeply missed by her family that loved her.
